The Story

Until the Last Moment explores the enduring nature of human connection through a contemporary interpretation of Zeus, a figure traditionally associated with strength, authority and permanence.

Emerging from a fragmented composition of ivory, charcoal, deep blue and gold, Zeus appears suspended between the classical world and contemporary abstraction. His sculptural profile is partially concealed by surrounding geometric forms, suggesting the passage of time and the way memory preserves certain details while allowing others to fade.

The figure is neither entirely revealed nor completely obscured. This deliberate fragmentation reflects the complexity of human experience, where identity, memory and relationships are shaped by moments that accumulate over a lifetime.

A broken gold circle intersects a dark vertical passage, introducing a symbolic dialogue between continuity and interruption. The circle suggests connection and the recurring nature of time, while its incomplete form acknowledges that life is defined as much by change as by permanence.

Gold introduces warmth and luminosity throughout the composition. Its presence becomes a symbol of value, endurance and the connections that grow more meaningful through shared experiences.

The deep blue recalls the Mediterranean and the visual heritage of Greece, grounding the composition in a sense of place while providing contrast to the sculptural figure and textured ivory surface.

The Greek inscription, «Μέχρι την τελευταία στιγμή», translated as “Until the Last Moment,” serves as the emotional center of the work.

The phrase speaks to loyalty, perseverance and the commitment to remain connected through the passage of time. Its meaning extends beyond a single relationship or moment, reflecting the bonds that endure through distance, transformation and uncertainty.

The dimensional surface preserves evidence of the artist's hand. Layers of acrylic and modeling paste create a weathered, stone-like appearance, recalling the surfaces of ancient sculpture while maintaining the expressive freedom of contemporary painting.

Created as a personal work inspired by friendship and the lasting significance of shared memories, Until the Last Momenthonors the relationships that become part of our individual histories.

The classical figure is intentionally reinterpreted rather than reproduced. Through abstraction, texture and symbolism, the work invites viewers to consider their own experiences of loyalty, memory and connection.
