​​​​Sofia Akhamlich Tazi is a contemporary artist whose work bridges fine art and design through richly textured abstract compositions that explore emotion, movement, human connection and timeless elegance. Working primarily in acrylic on premium linen canvas, she creates original paintings distinguished by dimensional surfaces, architectural balance and refined color palettes.

Born in Rabat, Morocco, Sofia comes from a multicultural heritage with roots in Morocco, Spain, Austria and Germany. Her family history, preserved in a memoir written by her family, traces connections to the Austrian Von Duringer family and the artistic Lange lineage, including Julius Lange, who served as a court painter to King Ludwig II of Bavaria.

The family memoir also describes historical connections between the Gómez branch in Barcelona and the Vilató family, whose members later became part of Pablo Picasso's immediate family through marriage. This history forms part of a broader cultural inheritance spanning generations, countries and artistic traditions. 

Rather than recreating the past, Sofia transforms this heritage into a contemporary visual language. Influences from European architecture, Moroccan craftsmanship, fashion, haute couture and luxury interiors appear through structure, proportion, materiality and texture within her work.

Educated at The Art Institute of Dallas in 3D Art, Animation and Design, Sofia later expanded her creative training into footwear design and pattern making in Elche, Spain. Her international background in fashion and luxury footwear brings a designer's understanding of composition, proportion, craftsmanship and material to every canvas.

Today, Sofia creates original contemporary works from her studio in the Dallas area for private collectors, interior designers and corporate commissions. Her paintings reflect a personal vision shaped by cultural heritage, design and a commitment to creating art with emotional resonance and lasting presence.
